Hours for the Great Brandon Auction- Inside Instead!
Thur & Fri- 11:00-8:00
Due to the Covid 19 issues, our 32nd Annual Great Brandon Auction will be taking place in a very non-traditional way this year. We’ve had to “Think Outside The Tent” and decided to move into a downtown storefront!
We will not be able to hold the auction under the tent at Estabrook Park as usual due to the Covid 19 restrictions. We’ve come up with a novel, and hopefully successful alternative. With the kind donation from Heather & John Bierschenk, we are being allowed to use the former Brown’s Gift Shop location at 6 Park Street to set up a two week INSIDE auction sales event! This will be manned by volunteers from August 1st through August 15th.
There will be two ways to purchase items in the auction. All items will be handled through a silent auction, where bidders keep track of items they’re interested in and update their bids on a regular basis. But..we also will have an Ebay style look in the Auction Shop. Every item will have a “Buy It Now” price on it! Take your chances and bid Silent Auction style or walk out the door right then and there with our Buy It Now format so you don’t lose your treasure!
The Auction offers antiques, collectibles, new merchandise, services, original art, and more; surprises and treasures from attics and barns. Also lots of gift certificates to dozens of local businesses incl. restaurants, brew pubs, fuel oil, massages and much more!
Other donations include dressers, beds, tools, art, chairs, trunks, LOTS of gardening items. Great items for dorms and apartments. Original art work from many of Brandon’s famed artists- Warren Kimble, Judith Reilly, Laura Rideout, Stephen Zorn, Joan Drew and more. Household goods and furnishings including collectibles, books, kitchen gadgets, children’s items and box lots. And of course our usual selection of interesting and eclectic items.
During the two weeks we will also allow donations to continue to be dropped off therefore encouraging folks to keep coming into the store to check bids and view new items. We’re excited about this new effort and hope to be able to minimize any financial hit the Chamber would have taken if no auction happened at all.
We’ll keep updating this page with a list of many of the items and pictures of cool and special donations.
We’ve also always had some lucky person go home with $500-$800 from our popular 50/50 Nancy Leary led effort and this year will be no different! BUT we’re going to run the 50/50 from July through October so the pot should be massive for some lucky ticket holder when we draw the winner November 1st..
This is a HUGE change from our 31 auctions past and we hope you can help us make it a HUGE success in this bizarre time we’re living in at this moment.
We’re a tough little town and we’ve all supported each other through all the travails that have presented themselves to us- let’s not stop now!
Thanks for your continued support in our effort to keep the Chamber a strong and active organization and our business community viable and healthy.
The idea for the Annual Great Brandon Auction was first pitched to the Chamber of Commerce in 1989 and it has grown into a popular summer event. The Auction raises funds for Chamber member support and development projects in the Town of Brandon.
We live in a very generous community and our inside auction will be overflowing with items large and small. It takes about 50 volunteers to turn this NEW style of an auction into a success and they are on-board and ready to work.
We do charge sales tax of 7% on all purchases except gift certificates and clothes so if you are a re-seller, bring your tax number.
