The Friends Of The Brandon Town Hall was organized in 1998 and developed a plan to restore the town hall which had been closed for nearly 30 years and was in jeopardy of being torn down. We became a nonprofit organization, receiving our 501(c)(3) designation in 2005.
Our purpose is to complete three important goals.
- Anchor the historic restoration of the town hall and serve as a keystone and guidepost from which other historic renovations can be realized.
- Return the building to the community to again discover the thrill of live performances, the arts and community cohesiveness through events designed to reach all community members, regardless of age, race, income, or sexual orientation.
- Bring new vitality to the downtown as a destination for visitors and a draw for local businesses.
We are proud to say that we continue to meet these objections and repair, restore and renovate the physical building. Recent projects include updating the lighting system with LED lights, a complete rebuilding of the stage and purchasing bigger and more comfortable seating. The Town has also taken a keen interest in the building and just recently completed a covered/lighted walkway over the downstairs handicap entrance. Of course the upkeep and improvements for the town hall are ongoing. The building once again serves as a community center for Brandon and the surrounding communities as well as a venue for our Recreation Department, Selectboard and special Town Wide Activities. Because of the dedication of our Board of Directors and the generosity of the incredible people of Brandon, we have been able to host concerts, shows, town meeting, wedding receptions, talent shows and our very popular Silent Movies just to name a few. Thanks to everyone for your continued support and concern for this historic building, it is part of our town’s heritage, thanks for helping us keep it alive.
