Debbie Kirby has been knitting for about 60 years and is famous around town for her wonderful mittens. Her mittens are known far and wide for being the softest and warmest. Debbie is affectionately known as The Goat Lady around Brandon. Kirby’s Happy Hoofers is a small hobby farm devoted to producing mohair and raising registered Angora Goats. All of their mohair and wool is used. The finest is spun into yarn and some is sold to hand spinners and craft folks. Besides mittens, Debbie sells socks, which are knit with Brushed Mohair Yarn, 78% Mohair, 13% Wool and 9% Nylon. The Pleasant Valley Farm in Quebec makes this blend with Debbie’s Mohair raised here in Brandon. All socks except some infant and very small child sizes have a double heel and toe for longer wear.
