Our History

Bette Moffett founded Nifty Thrifty in 1975. The shop has been in many locations around Brandon since then. In the beginning it opened as a consignment shop and operated with a group of 95 volunteers. Over the years, the shop has contributed to summer programs, Arts Council, BARS, Library programs, school programs, adult programs, tree planting, park benches, play equipment, Toys for Tots, Christmas parties for Early Education Centers, Camp Thorpe, the Senior Center, the Brownies, the Festival Singers, the Elf Program, etc. The huge task of bookkeeping made it a necessity to switch over to strictly donations.  Bette had estimated as of 2011, over $250,000 has been given to the community through the thrift shop.

Our Mission

Nifty Thrifty’s Mission is to help our community as it cultivates its image as a cultural, spiritual, commercial, recreational and educational center. We do this by giving to local programs, projects, events, activities, organizations and ideas.

We have a Facebook page too. NIFTY Thrifty Thrift SHOP
