Brandon's Lower Falls |
Take a stroll through Brandon's downtown.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, one can feel
the sense of history and 19th century significance from Brandon's
buildings and town greens. Center and Park Streets are home to a lovely
commercial district with interesting and tasteful shops. Park and Pearl
Streets, which radiate from downtown, are filled with immaculate 19th
century homes with historical and architectural significance. When in
town, pick up a copy of our self-guided walking tour of the historical
district.
Visit the Area's Covered Bridges -- In
Brandon, there is one covered bridge, the Sanderson Bridge, on Pearl St.
Extension. In Pittsford, just seven miles south, there are four covered
bridges across Otter Creek. They were built in the 1840s and are of Town
Lattice construction. Middlebury, to our north, has a rare two-lane
bridge, and one of Vermont's two covered railroad bridges is at Richville
Pond, west of Brandon near Shoreham.
